From Supplier to the Field: How BDG safety & Hardknock Support Mission-Ready Teams
At BDG Safety, we believe safety should be simple, reliable, and built around the realities of the job. That means working with partners who share that mindset, and Hardknock is absolutely one of those partners.
Delivering the Right Gear for the Real World
As a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, we approach every relationship with a clear understanding of what is at stake. The crews we serve are working in environments where safety is not optional, and the equipment they use needs to perform accordingly.
Hardknock helmets are designed with that same expectation. They are built for durability, comfort, and protection in the environments where it matters most. That alignment allows us to confidently recommend and deliver solutions that meet both compliance requirements and real-world demands.
Supporting the USACE
One example of our partnership with Hardknock in action is our work supporting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It's no secret that USACE teams operate in complex environments where safety standards are high and the margin for error is low. These are not theoretical scenarios. These are real projects with real risk.
Jose Herrera, chief of the USACE, Savannah District’s Safety and Occupational Health Office, stated that the decision to transition to the new helmets is based on years of research reviewing accident trends and worker injuries conducted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
“Prioritizing safety in all endeavors ensures that employees return home safely at the end of each day, and investing in quality helmets is a crucial stride toward achieving this goal,” said Herrera.
While a lot of the focus is on the USACE themselves, a significant portion of the work is carried out by subcontractors on those projects. These teams are held to the same standards, but often have to move faster, source independently, and make the right call without a lot of margin for error.
That’s where we come in.
We work alongside subcontractors to remove the guesswork. From helping confirm what gear meets spec to making sure orders align with procurement requirements, our goal is to keep things moving without slowing teams down. When timelines are tight and expectations are high, having a partner who understands both the field and the process makes a difference.
At the end of the day, it’s about making sure every team on site, not just the prime, is set up to stay compliant, stay protected, and keep the job moving forward.
By supplying Hardknock helmets to organizations like this, we are helping ensure teams have access to modern safety equipment that supports both compliance and crew wellbeing. What makes our partnerships with suppliers like Hardknock work is a shared understanding of the mission.
Hardknock is committed to building better safety equipment.
We are committed to making that equipment accessible, on-brand, and easy to implement in the field.
Together, that means:
- better protection for crews
- smoother procurement for organizations
- and more confidence in the gear being used on the job
At the end of the day, our job is simple.
Help teams stay ready. Help them stay compliant. Help them stay safe so they can come home to their families each and every day. We are proud to play a role in protecting the people behind the work.
